Does it bother most vegetarians to eat food that touched the same equipment as meat?

I work in a restaurant with vegetarian options, but the cheese is sliced on our meat slicer and we use the same knives and stuff.
The meat is cooked when it’s cut; it’s not against code. We use the knives to cut assembled sandwiches- that not against code either, but might be against personal "code," which is what I’m asking about.

It bothers me. But ignorance is bliss. We know the kitchen may mix up stuff, and it’s a chance we take when it comes to eating at non-veg restaurants. We’d REALLY prefer that the stuff gets washed, prefer that it’s completely separate, but we know there’s a risk. I’ve asked when ordering veggie rolls at sushi restaurants to wash the knife after it’s been used to cut fish, but I can’t see them, so I don’t know if they’ve honored my request.

If you could change it, that’d be nice. But we’re not stupid. We know it happens. We’d just prefer that it didn’t.

If they’re hungry, and want to eat, they won’t be so bloody picky.

Assuming that the meat slicer is broken down and cleaned thoroughly before the cheese is sliced I don’t see a problem. If it isn’t I want to know the name of that ptomaine palace so I can make sure not to eat there.

Do you really think there is anybody here who is qualified to answer how most people feel?
Why not ask them how they feel about getting nuked food from the Japan fallout, or drinking New York water that has enough drugs in it to get high, or eating genetically modified fruit and veggies?
However, Jewish people have to use separate pots and pans just to keep from any possible cross contamination (And riling God)
I suspect that most don’t know and so don’t care but if they knew most still would not care(Unless they never wash their dishes, knives, pots and pans or tupperware).

If they are thoroughly cleaned between uses, it’s no big deal. However, if I can taste it, it’s gross. I would also seriously reconsider finishing my meal if I could taste that there had been cross-contamination. I would question the kitchen’s food-handling practices.

It bothers me to an extent. At a restaurant, I’m not so picky if the cheese has rennet in it, or my sandwich was grilled on the same grill as a "murderburger" (lol I’ve been wanting to use that term, I’m just kidding though…kinda). I’m not too picky about it, even though it does bother me, because I am not cooking this food. I’d rather not be considered "that vegetarian," if you know what I mean. There is nothing wrong with that if you are that quizzical about your food. Good for you! But I am much too shy to ask more than, "It *is* vegetarian, right?" That’s just me.

At home, I am completely the opposite. I try my best not to eat foods with rennet, animal enzymes, and other unsavory things people like to put into food.

YOur restaurant is against code, you can’t legally cut meat and cheese on the same board with the same knives.

I dont know, as I eat meat, but i imagine it would. If I was at some resturant in some other country (I live in the USA) and it was one of those countries that cannabolism was widly accepted and they served Human flesh…I would be rather upset if I found out that my "vegetarian" food had been handled with the same utensils as the "meat" …

I know its differnt, and I dont like to compare eating meat to cannabolism, because it is differnt, but I can easily see how it would upset some vegetarians if the thought of meat really grossed them out

But the restaurants I go to are vegetarian-only.. so, I don’t have to worry about it..
