Frozen drink maker vs blender?

Sunday, May 29th, 2011

I saw a blender type apparatus called the Caribbean Chiller Frozen drink maker and was wondering if it was any different than an ordinary blender. Do blenders shave the ice into a frozen drink? I’ve never owed one.

Also, if you have a good quality food processors will this perform the function of a blender?

Are all blenders "loud"? This one takes 7-10 minutes to blend a frozen drink. Sounds long.

Trying to decide between this, a regular blender or the magic bullet.

Is the magic bullet any different than a blender?

IS IT THE SAME THING???????????????? please help?

No stove or oven to cook with – help!?

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

I need some recipes that I can cook that don’t require a stove or oven. I have a microwave, a toaster, a blender, and a food processor. I’m not a big fan of microwavable dinners – does anybody know any other good recipes that don’t require an oven or stove?

I want to make peanut butter cookies but the recipe calls for creamy pb I only have crunchy. is that ok?

I have 2 jars of crunchy. I’m not sure why neither my husband nor I like crunchy. Can I make it creamy in the food processor or blender?

Quiche problem!?

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

It’s beginning to burn, so I just reduced the heat to 300. Its been baking 50 minutes already! (recipe below)

I followed the recipe exactly, except I used a mixture of half cream and milk. I used a refridgerated pie crust that comes in a tin pan, not glass.

Spinach and Bacon Quiche Recipe

6 large eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
Salt and pepper
2 cups chopped fresh baby spinach, packed
1 pound bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1 (9-inch) refrigerated pie crust, fitted to a 9-inch glass pie plate

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine the eggs, cream, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender. Layer the spinach, bacon, and cheese in the bottom of the pie crust, then pour the egg mixture on top. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the egg mixture is set. Cut into 8 wedges.

cat litter box cake?? yum? do you want to try it?

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix
1 box of white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
A few drops green food coloring
12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

SERVING "DISHES AND UTENSILS"

1 NEW cat-litter box
1 NEW cat-litter box liner
1 NEW pooper scooper

Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside. When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box.

Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

Can I use the blender for this?

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

I’m trying a new recipe where I have to pulse about a cup of sugar plus some lemon zest in a food processor. I don’t own a food processor, so would it be okay to use a blender for this, or will the sugar damage the blades or something? Thank you! :)
