Does it bother most vegetarians to eat food that touched the same equipment as meat?

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

I work in a restaurant with vegetarian options, but the cheese is sliced on our meat slicer and we use the same knives and stuff.
The meat is cooked when it’s cut; it’s not against code. We use the knives to cut assembled sandwiches- that not against code either, but might be against personal "code," which is what I’m asking about.

Vegan Stuffed Shells? Which is best to use and why…extra firm tofu or silken tofu?

I have found various sites that use either of the two (blended in food processor…) Any experience with this? Either making "cheese like" filling for stuffed shells or lasagna, etc.

Can someone give me a simple marinara sauce recipe?

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

I don’t like a lot of cheese, but I don’t like a lot of spice either.

I was thinking about this one:

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Simple-Marinara-Sauce/Detail.aspx?prop31=1

And taking out the cheese, but then one of the reviews said it was bland [I do not like bland].

I am not a professional cook and I don’t have a food processor.

I want to make cheese blintzes with farmers cheese………?

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

I got the farmers cheese which I was expecting to be in a semi-solid form. Turns out it’s more like a solid, like mozzarella almost. The recipe says to blend it with a few other liquids. Should this stuff be crumbling apart in order to use it with the other ingredients. I am envisioning putting a big chunk of cheese into the food processor with some eggs and a few other items. It just doesn’t seem like it will work. Any helpful hints with farmers cheese?

is it cheaper to buy brick cheese and shred it myself?

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

or doesn’t it make a difference. sometimes shredding cheese on a small scale is a pain. But maybe on a larger scale, shredding many bricks of cheese might be cheaper. thanks. PS. shredding it with a food processor, etc.

Food processor………………………?

Monday, January 24th, 2011

I would like one. I would like a powerful one. But I wouldn’t like to pay top $. I’m ok with looking at used ones (i.e. ebay, amazon,etc.).

I currently am looking at Kitchenaid ones. A family member has one and LOVES it and it is pretty cool.

I need it to be able to shred cheese fast & easy and also a big thing is to shred potatoes (hashbrowns). Of course I want it for other things as well but those 2 are on my top of the list.

Any recommendations whether they are Kitchenaid or not?

Thanks :)
